Community Engagement & Satisfaction

The public’s perception is that levels of crime are higher than the true level. There is therefore a need to reduce this fear of crime and to reassure the people of Vale Royal that they do live in a safe environment – this can be achieved through effective communication. There is much that communities can do for themselves and the aim of this project is to facilitate this.

Our Aim

To reduce the fear of crime and promote public reassurance by targeting the crimes that the public of Vale Royal fear the most, informing them of the progress of these actions, and ways in which communities can be involved in tackling local problems.

Our objectives

Establish the extent of the fear of crime and actual crime levels within Vale Royal by undertaking public surveys each year. We will look at the age, gender and ethnicity of victims; the types of crime and where they occur the most in terms of time and location; and the level of fear according to crime type.

Implement effective mechanisms to inform the people of Vale Royal of the work of the Vale Royal Community Safety Partnership and how they can be involved.

Seek practical ways local community organisations can be involved in reducing crime and disorder and promoting reassurance in their own areas.

Implement measurable activities to target the crimes that are feared most, including domestic burglary, violent crime and car crime, with particular emphasis upon those who commit the most crime, those who are ‘repeat victims, and ‘hotspot’ locations.
