About the Vale Royal Community Partnership
In 1998 a partnership was formed between Vale Royal Borough Council, Cheshire County Council, the then Vale Royal and Congleton Division of Cheshire Constabulary, and the National Probation Service. This Partnership was set up to meet the requirements of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 which requires local authorities and the Police to work in partnership with other agencies to promote safer communities.

Specifically the Act requires Partnerships to:

  • Conduct an audit of crime and disorder in the area,
  • Consult the local community as part of the audit process,
  • Prepare a three-year strategy to reduce crime and disorder,
  • Monitor progress and review the strategy

Executive officers of the four organisations formed a Leadership Group which was later joined by Cheshire Fire Service, Mid and East Cheshire Primary Care Group, and Cheshire Youth Offending Team.

Currently the chair of this Leadership Group is the Deputy Fire Officer Chris Turnock and the vice-chair is the Western Area Commander, Chief Superintendent Tim Jackson. This group meets regularly to discuss the strategic delivery of the Community Safety Strategy for Vale Royal.

Community Safety issues are administered on behalf of the Community Safety Partnership by the Strategic Partnerships section of the Chief Executive’s Department at Vale Royal Borough Council.

About the Community Safety Partnership website
This website has been created by the Community Safety Partnership at a time when community safety is high on everyone's agenda.

The reasons for establishing this website are to ensure a better understanding of community safety within the Borough, to explain what the Partnership is and the work we are involved in with other agencies and organisations to make the Borough a safer and more attractive place to live, work or visit. It also provides practical advice on specific topics to ensure you stay one step ahead of the criminal.

Since information technology is a major part of everyday life these days and we have identified that a high percentage of people obtain information on Council services via the internet our aim for this site is,

  • to provide clear and relevant data on crime and disorder by Ward areas,
  • ensure the information is concise and in a format that is easy to read and understand,
  • and through our continual work in this field and with public participation we hope to address the fear of crime issue.

We hope you find this website easy to search, interesting and informative and if it has provided some practical help to prevent you being a target for the criminal then it has achieved one of it's main objectives.
