FRODSHAM AREA 

Forest 

Background

Forest Ward sits to the south of the town of Frodsham. It contains the villages of Norley, Manley and Alvanley. It contains 2450 hectares., much of which is in an area known as Delamere Forest which attracts many visitors at all times of the year. Some parts of the area are served by buses into either Frodsham or Northwich. The nearest railway stations are at Acton Bridge, Frodsham and Helsby. There are primary schools at Alvanley, Manley and Norley . (See Map)

In 2001 there were 849 households of which 88% were owner-occupied and social housing accounted for a further 3%. 

At the time of the 2001 Census, of those aged between 16 and 74 years 65% were economically active which is above the rate for Vale Royal (62.8%) and above that for England and Wales (60.6%). The unemployed accounted for only 1.7% of whom 19% were aged over 50 and 37% were long-term unemployed. Those otherwise economically inactive formed 16.1% of the population in the same age range. Retired people represent 17% of the age group. 

This ward is regarded as a single unit for the purpose of measuring social and economic disadvantage. According to the Government’s Index of Multiple Deprivation 2004, the ward scores highly overall as suffering from little deprivation. However, it is in the worse 20% nationally so far as housing and access to local services is concerned.

Disorder 

In 2005/06 new categories of Anti-social behaviour were used by the police making it difficult to compare previous years. During the past year the following incidents were recorded by the police.
