Pub Watch
Pubwatch is not a new concept; the first Pubwatch schemes were set up about fifteen years ago. The aim of Pubwatch is to improve the ambience of the environment in and around the premises of a Pubwatch area, and enhance the safety, security, comfort and well being of customers so that their visit is a pleasurable occasion and one that they will wish to repeat. For example if a group of people visit a pub for a special occasion and one of them becomes the victim of crime, then in six months time they will remember the crime and not the evening in the pub however much they enjoyed the evening at the time.
The formation of a pub watch scheme will prevent establishments within the schemes from being targeted by groups who have been barred from other local establishments. Membership of a pubwatch scheme will also give you a contact number within the police to report any non-urgent suspicious incidents to. Through Pub Watch, licensees will have the opportunity to liase with representatives from pubs in the locality and with police support arrange for named individuals to be banned via the pubwatch committee.
Pubwatch has rece
ntly been introduced in Helsby, Northwich, and Winsford, following successful schemes in Congleton and Crewe. All licensed premises in these townships have signed up to the scheme.
